Spectral Geology Workshops

Ausspec provide a range of introductory and advanced spectral geology training courses designed to help you make the most of your spectral data and effectively integrate these data with other ancillary data sets such as geochemistry.

All workshops are focused on providing participants with skills to handle spectral data for mapping mineral assemblages, automated logging/mapping, deposit characterisation and developing vectors to mineralisation in their exploration programs.

Participants gain:

  • An appreciation of the principles of spectral analysis (in the visible, near infrared, short wave infrared), the identifying features of mineral spectra and the information gained from them;

  • An understanding of the different approaches to spectral interpretation and analysis, including manual interpretation, automated interpretation methods and mineral indices;

  • Insight into the practical aspects of sampling and measurement issues, including QA;

  • Awareness of various advanced data handling and processing methods that can readily be used to optimise the information gained in the spectral data;

  • Knowledge on how to integrate spectral data with other exploration and mining data (e.g. geochemistry, logging data etc), what the data mean and how to interpret them in forms such as down hole logs, maps or scatterplots to develop a better understanding of an alteration system.

Who benefit from the workshops?  Geologists and exploration managers who are actively using spectral data or are considering using spectral analysis in an exploration/mining program. No prior experience is necessary.

Are the workshops practical? Absolutely.  All data is case study material from a variety of geological settings, including Porphyry and Epithermal, uranium deposits, Carlin style, IOCG, VHMS, Archean Greenstone, Regolith profiles and diamond deposits.  Importantly all workshops can be tailored to suit your specific requirements and on your geological setting of interest.

Are workshops up to date?   The courses are constantly evolving to incorporate new example data sets, analysis techniques and new TSG functions as they are developed.
